Prioritize outcomes that build safer, healthier neighborhoods for all residents
My approach emphasizes outcomes that build safer, healthier neighborhoods for all residents.
Homelessness & Supportive Services
As an educator, I’ve seen firsthand how instability affects children and families, and this issue hits close to home—my own brother struggled with addiction and homelessness, giving me a deeply personal understanding of the challenges too many families face. Homelessness demands compassion paired with effective, accountable action.
I will:
-
Expand access to mental health and substance abuse treatment.
-
Improve coordination between county and city agencies.
-
Increase transitional and supportive housing with clear accountability standards.
-
Prioritize prevention: eviction assistance, family stabilization, rental aid, and proactive outreach.
-
Address root causes to break cycles of homelessness and addiction, building stronger communities.
By investing in these forward thinking strategies, we can address root causes, reduce the cycle of homelessness and addiction, and build stronger, more stable communities for everyone
Family Stability and Economic Mobility
As your Santa Clara County Supervisor, championing policies that support families and boost economic opportunities for all residents is my priority.
I will:
-
Advocate for expanded affordable child care and early learning programs, partnering with organizations like FIRST 5 Santa Clara County to provide accessible, quality care so parents can work or train without financial strain.
-
Prioritize workforce training, job placement, and skills programs in high-demand sectors—health care, tech, and skilled trades—to create pathways to family-sustaining wages for working families, veterans, and underserved communities.
-
Push for streamlined business permitting, targeted incentives for local job creation, and investments in small businesses to drive inclusive economic growth.
-
Align county resources, budget allocations, federal grants, and collaborations with cities and nonprofits, to deliver practical supports like rental assistance, family stabilization, and economic resiliency initiatives.
I’m focused on preventing hardship and promoting upward mobility so families thrive, children succeed, and opportunities are within reach for everyone.
Affordable Housing
As your County Supervisor, I am dedicated to tackling our housing affordability crisis with practical, financially sound, and community-informed solutions that increase supply without compromising our neighborhoods or local character.
I will:
-
Support smart planning that incorporates strong community input to guide responsible growth.
-
Work to streamline processes and ensure infrastructure (roads, water, public services) keeps pace with development to avoid overburdening existing residents.
-
Prioritize housing solutions targeted at working families, seniors, and veterans, those who need stable, accessible options most.
-
Champion Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), as an effective, affordable way to add housing on existing properties, offering flexibility for multigenerational living, rental income, or independent senior care while respecting neighborhood feel.
By balancing growth with accountability and resident voices, we can build more homes that are truly accessible and sustainable for everyone in Santa Clara County District 1.
Building Fiscal Resilience and Accountability
As your Santa Clara County Supervisor, I am committed to maintaining a financially balanced, transparent, and fiscally sound budget that safeguards essential services for our residents amid unprecedented challenges.
I will:
-
Uphold a structurally balanced budget that rigorously protects core priorities: health care, homelessness prevention, mental health, and public safety.
-
Ensure full transparency through clear public reporting, community input in budget hearings, and ongoing oversight to maximize every taxpayer dollar.
-
Advocate for long-term fiscal stewardship: multi-year forecasting to address structural deficits, exploring efficiencies without cutting services, and diversifying sustainable funding sources.
-
Make public hospitals more self-sustaining (representing 55% of the budget) by improving operational efficiencies and restructuring services where appropriate.
-
Focus on data driven decisions, collaboration with residents, cities, and stakeholders to build a resilient budget that protects vulnerable populations and restores trust in county government.
As your Supervisor, I’ll bring the fiscal responsibility and consensus building experience needed to make this vision a reality for Santa Clara County District 1.
